ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS AND PERMITTING
The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) is a United States environmental law that was enacted in 1970 to implement an environmental review process to publicly disclose the potential environmental effects of proposed federal or federally funded projects. That same year, shortly after NEPA was implemented, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) was established to institute a statewide policy of environmental protection. CEQA requires state and local agencies within California to follow a protocol of analysis and public disclosure of environmental impacts of proposed projects and adopt all feasible measures to minimize, eliminate, or mitigate those impacts.
